Dominique Carrel-Billiard joined Europe’s largest asset manager on December 19, Amundi said in a statement, and has become a member of its executive committee.

On December 13, Amundi agreed to pay €3.55 billion to UniCredit to take over its Pioneer Investments subsidiary.

In a statement, the French asset manager specifically said that Carrel-Billiard, who quit AXA IM in June 2013 after seven years as its CEO, would be coordinating the merger, citing his responsibility for consolidating group acquisitions and operational units.

Between leaving AXA IM and joining Amundi, Carrel-Billiard was CEO at French boutique La Financiere de l’Echiquier.
