State Street Global Advisors, which manages about $ 2.3 trillion in assets, confirmed that Andrew Soper, who had led UK portfolio management in its investment solutions group, has assumed overall Emea risk oversight responsibilities.
He takes the reins from Bill Street, head of investments for Emea, who had taken on the risk role on an interim basis since March, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Soper will report jointly to Matt Steinaway, global head of risk at SSgA, and David Suetens, international chief risk officer at State Street.
According to SSgA’s website, Soper will oversee all investment, credit, operational and fiduciary risks across Emea. He took on his new role in mid-September 2016.
Soper, who joined SSgA in 1997, had been responsible for overseeing all the firm’s asset allocation portfolios in the UK and Ireland, a role in which he reported to Frederic Dodard, head of portfolio management for Emea. Soper’s responsibilities will now be taken on by Dodard and other members of the team.
During his time at SSgA, Soper has also been a member of the firm’s global equity beta solutions team, a role in which he managed a range of structured equity portfolios in London and Hong Kong.
